Shockwave Athlete Off to College

May 2018

 

Congratulations to Alexander Cantu who was the Team Captain of the 2017 Cross Country State Champion Cathedral Phantoms! After considering many options he decided to continue to pursue his academic and athletic dreams at the University of California Santa Barbara. The Shockwaves family is proud of his many accomplishments and we wish him the very best of luck in college!

Shockwaves Steal the Show!!!

The Pacific Coast Shockwaves attend the Opening Ceremonies at the 2016 USATF Junior Olympics with 89 youth athletes ranging from ages 7 through 16. Athletes were there to complete in a host of individual running events, field events and team relays. 

The event was host to well over 6,000 youth athletes from all across the United States having qualified for this national event. Expectations were set high as the event kicked off on Monday, July 25th 2016!

The Goal of 100 Medals!

Expectations are set high at Shockwaves! Athletes are expected to set goals and work hard to accomplish those goals despite obstacles! This season Head Coach Mike Bryson set the goal of earning 100 medals that the 2016 Junior Olympics. The youth athletes drew this chart to track their accomplishments throughtout the meet. It motivated and inspired them to give thier all!

Darien Langley (13-14 Boys Division) 8th overall and Cameron "The Curve" Walker (11-12 Girls Diviison) 7th overall, became the first Shockwaves ever to reach the podium in the 100M. Congratulations to these two super stars!!!

13-14 Girls Take 3rd in the 4x400 & 4x800 Relay

Congratulations to Rachel Glenn, Maya Rush, Kalea Brown and Maya Bryson who finished 3rd overall in the 4x400 & 4x800 relay!

Congratulations to Aaron Cantu, Aaryn Washington, Smooth Watkins and Noah Hernandez who finished 7th overall in the 4x400 relay!

Yamilet Lopez, Ximora Lewis, Taylor White and Megan Mukiibi (8 & Under Girls) also finsihed 3rd overall in the nation!

Where Champions Are Built

August 2016 

 

Shockwaves show out yet again and complete the meet with a total of 83 total MEDALS, 11 National Championships and 5 National Records!

We had impressive performances from Anthony Taylor in the 100M and 200M Hurdles medaling in both; Taylor Hill finished 4th in the 11-12 Division Discus; the 9-10 Girls 4x400 Relay (Mai Ricks, Kaylen Edwards, Mahlia Jules and Thalia Holyfield) finished 7th overall. The 9-10 Boys 4x400 Relay also finished 3rd overall with stark performances from Anthony Winston, Xai Ricks, Cameron Babineaux, and Adam Divinity.

Alexis Fernandez also took home 3rd place in the 13-14 Girls 3000M. The 15-16 Boys finished 6th overall in the 4x800 relay including Armando Bryson, Jaylin Gant, Lennard Marshall and Alberto Lopez. Christian Hill finished 3rd in the 13-14 Boys Triple Jump! Maya Rush (Javelin) and Prince Watkins (Race Walk) both took home national championships in their respective events. Gabriel Lewis finished 3rd overall in the 9-10 Boys Triathlon, while Nick Mejia finished 5th in the 800M and 3rd in the 1500M 11-12 Boys Division. The 11-12 Girls 4x800 relay finished 2nd overall with Mia Jamerson, Daniela Qunitero, Yhalania McDonald and Sarah Martinez.

 

All of our athletes demonstrated why we have adopted the model "Where Champions Are Built"! Congratulations to them all!

2015 USATF XC Junior Olympics, Albuquerque, NM!

8 & Under Girls & Boys "Shock" New Mexico!!!

December 2015

 

Congratulations to the 8 & Under Girls on finishing 2nd overall in the NATION at the 2015 XC Junior Olympics!!! They took Albuquerque, NM by storm as they dominated the race from start to finish!!! Way to go!!! Yamilet Lopez had an amazing performance finishing  5th overall, and Xyrie Goeson finished 9th overall out of 197 runners!!! Way to go girls!

 

The 8 & Under Boys shocked New Mexico with a 3rd place overall finish! Martin Macias ran his heart out and finished 11th overall, while the rest of his teammate followed closely behind! The race included a total of 227 runners!!! Way to go boys!

Individual Medalist

 

Congratulations to the following individual medalist: 

Diana Bautista finished 8th for the 11-12 girls.

Katelyn Meza finished 11th and

Zoe Ta-Perez finished 20th for the 13-14 girls.

 

Each of these young ladies gave their all and demonstrated what championship performances look like!

Congratulations to Aaron Cantu who finished 15th overall, and Edgar Haro finished 22nd overall, for the 9-10 Boys division, while Raul Chavez finished 11th and Tyriq Granillo finished 16th overall for the 13-14 Boys, all earning individuals medals in addition to their team awards!

Shockwaves show out yet again! At the Chino Hills XC Meet, the 8 & Under Boys and Girls take 1st Place. The 9/10 & 13/4 Boys, 11/12 & 13/14 Girls also steal the show with 1st place finishes!

These impressive performances come on the heels of the Southen California Association XC Championships, as these athlete prepare to take on some of the best runners in Southern California. Good luck to each of them as they enter post-season competetion!

2015 Hershey's Youth Outdoor National Championships

July 2015

 

Shockwaves represent in a big way in Lisle, Ill at the 2015 Hershey Youth Outdoor National Championships! There were 9 individual National Champions and 21 total Gold Medals! 1st Place team awards for the 11/12 and 13/14 Boys. The 9/10 Girls division took 2nd place overall! Way to go Shockwaves!
